Growing up I was put into a massive echo chamber on a weekly basis where intermittently, for one hour, hundreds of people would all attempt to sing the same melody microtones off from one another at varying tempos with monstrous organ sounds filling the space. This mass of impressionistic wavering voices resonating with reverb drenched organ and infant screams has provided me with a sonic blueprint that seems to permeate all my musical tinkerings.
This record is my closest attempt at fusing my love of free improv, electronic music, avant chamber, and pop. These songs, at their core, are pop compositions that behave as dream-like environments to meander within; simultaneously alien and organic.
I have named the record Church because it was shaped by Catholic guilt and the life long marriage of trauma and enlightenment that ensues. Each song is decades worth of seeking autonomy while self-medicating (sonically/musically) through the cognitive dissonance of my childhood to present.
